Article VII Nominations for Leadership Positions
Clause:
1. Nominations shall be held last quarter during the General meeting of
the third (3 rd ) year.
2. Qualifications & procedures for nominations:
a. Any person considering an elected officer position should
become familiar with the respective position by reading the
duties listed in the constitution
b. And/or shadowing the current officer for a minimum period
of time.
c. Any person nominated must be in good standing with the
association.
d. Persons nominated must be present in the nomination day.
e. Persons nominated must verify that they will be able to stay
for the period and not travel along the way to fulfill their
position if elected as an officer
f. Persons nominated for the position of President or Vice-
President must verify that they will be committed to a full term
(4 years) of service.
g. Persons nominated must show prove of having good
relationship with members of the family as well as his or her
individual home.
h. Persons nominated must be conversant with meeting
procedures and can represent the association in high places
(educated and command of speech (Ga and English) in respect
and authority).
i. Nominations may be submitted in writing or in person at a
meeting for perusal.
3. Election
a. Election shall be conducted at the last quarter during General
Meeting of the fourth (4 th ) year of the executives’ tenure of
office.
b. Elections will be conducted by paper ballot, facilitated by a
special committee assigned to the task of election.
c. At least 1/3 of members must be present in order to conduct
elections.
d. Elections may be held by email with votes being sent directly
to election facilitators by members in diaspora as long as all
voting members are notified a minimum of 14 days in advance
4. Tenure in office
a. Shall be for four (4) years in a term.
b. Elected officers are eligible to hold the same position no more
than two terms.
c. Any officer (elected or appointed) may be removed from
office by 2/3 of a majority vote of the members” Or “the
executive committee in consultation with the trustees shall
remove the officer.
d. Should an office become vacant in mid-term, a new officer
shall be chosen by appointment by the executive board for an
interim position..
